Easy & Delicious Garlic Bread

I have to physically restrain myself from overeating this easy and delicious ciabatta garlic bread every time I make it. It’s soft in the middle, crispy on the edges, and takes almost no time to make. I made this garlic bread shortly after getting frustrated that I couldn’t nail down my mom’s garlic bread recipe – that belongs to her and always will —even following her directions to a T, it’s just not the same. Some things are just better when they’re made for you by someone you love and I believe that wholeheartedly. This recipe, however? Easy peasy, garlic squeezy.

I am not stuffy about my garlic bread; I love boxed garlic bread, the grocery store’s version of garlic bread, and homemade garlic bread – I don’t think I’ve ever had a piece of garlic bread I didn’t like. Maybe I’ve just gotten lucky? Maybe it’s simply one of the best foods ever created? Who’s to say?

I do know, however, that there are ways to upgrade your garlic bread game. I have decided that as far as a simple, affordable, and quick garlic bread recipe goes, this is my favorite. It’s inexpensive, it cooks beautifully with crisp edges and a buttery center, and the flavor is accented by hints of basil, oregano, and paprika.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS…

  • Ciabatta Bread. Known for its rustic crust and airy interior, ciabatta is perfect for absorbing flavors and crisping up in the oven. You can use any crispy bread for garlic bread really, I personally love the crunch ciabatta gives.
  • Garlic Butter Spread. Adds richness and a garlicky flavor to the bread. It enhances the aroma and taste, making each bite savory and delicious. It’s also so easy to buy and once the fresh garlic is added on top, it enhances the garlic in the butter.
  • Basil and Oregano. Fresh or dried herbs that add aromatic, herbaceous notes to the garlic bread. They add a bit of depth to a relatively simple food.
  • Paprika. Adds a subtle sweetness to the garlic bread. It also enhances the color of the dish, giving it a golden-red hue.
  • Minced Garlic. Adds intense garlic flavor. Using pre-minced garlic from a jar ensures that it’s soaked up all the garlicky goodness, spreading its flavor evenly throughout the bread.
  • Flakey Sea Salt. Provides a satisfying crunch and enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.

Details & Considerations

Everything in moderation, the flavors are strong so maintain a moderate amount of butter, garlic, and seasonings. 

Other bread works fine too but a change in bread could bring a change in cook time. Essentially just cook until golden brown edges form and it’s slightly golden on top.

Ingredients
  

  • ciabatta bread (I prefer the individual ones)
  • garlic butter spread
  • basil
  • oregano
  • paprika
  • minced garlic (preferably from the jar where it’s soaked up all the garlicky goodness)
  • flakey sea salt (100% Suggest sticking to the flakey salt, it does make a difference compared to regular fine salt)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cut the ciabatta in half (sandwich-style/horizontally)
  • Spread a moderate amount of garlic butter spread on each slice. Enough to cover the white of the bread but still a rather thin layer.
  • Spread minced garlic over each slice, about 2 tsp per slice.
  • Sprinkle basil, oregano, and paprika on top of each piece.
  • Lightly sprinkle flakey sea salt on top.
  • Place garlic bread on a cookie sheet with tin foil.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for about 15-18 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the top is golden.
